About Salisbury Community Choir

Salisbury Community Choir was founded in the early 1990s from Jan Hughes’ “Singing for Non‑Singers” workshops. The choir has grown from a small but enthusiastic group into a large, non‑auditioned community choir that welcomes anyone who wants to sing. Under the leadership of our numerous Musical Directors over the years, the choir has embraced an expanded and varied repertoire, from world music, sea shanties, popular music, and major works such as Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Bob Chilcott’s Salisbury Vespers and Faure’s Requiem.

Over the decades, Salisbury Community Choir has performed in iconic venues including Salisbury Cathedral, the Wales Millennium Centre, and the Sheldonian Theatre, and has toured in Europe and South Africa. The choir also collaborates with children’s choirs and local schools, and supports numerous charities through its concerts.

Our choir remains a friendly, open group which welcomes new members, see our Become a Member page for how to join us.
